9th Circuit upholds habitat protection for green sturgeon under Endangered Species Act

In a victory for federal wildlife officials, the 9th Circuit rebuffed a building industry attack on designating protected habitat for the fish, including the Sacramento San Joaquin River delta and the San Francisco Bay.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals added to its recent string of rulings supporting
imperiled fish in the Sacramento San Joaquin River delta on Tuesday, this time upholding
the federal government's decision under the Endangered Species Act to protect a large
area of habitat for green sturgeon.
