Brown appoints 11 new judges, including prominent IP litigator
The governor appointed judges in Santa Clara, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Diego, Marin and San Bernardino counties.

Gov. Jerry Brown named 11 judges across the state Friday, including Geoffrey M. Howard, a former Bingham McCutchen LLP partner and intellectual property litigator best known for his representation of Oracle Corp. in major trial wins.
Aside from choosing Howard for Marin County Superior Court, Brown's picks include three to Santa Clara County Superior Court.
