Task force will consider rewrite of State Bar discipline sentencing guidelines

The State Bar next month begins a close review of its standards for punishing lawyers in discipline trouble. A special task force could rewrite the broad guidelines to make them more specific.

The State Bar next month begins a close review of its standards for punishing lawyers in discipline trouble.


The bar's "Standards for Attorney Sanctions for Professional Misconduct" were created in 1986 and haven't been significantly updated since then, according to Karen M. Goodman, who chairs the new task force charged with the duty.
