Bar association lauds chief justice
Scores of Inland Empire lawyers and judges gathered in Ontario last week to honor California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, who received the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association's fifth annual Judicial Officer of the Year award. The award is given each year to recognize outstanding jurists that exhibit qualities of leadership and work to improve access to justice, said Dean McVey, past president of the bar association. "Since her appointment, she's been an outstanding advocate for the court system and in her advocating, she's working on bringing more dollars to the local Inland Empire," McVey said of Cantil-Sakauye. The event was held March 27 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Ontario. — Katie Lucia
