Attorney's effort to seal court records fails

Lawyer and Bay Area real estate developer John T. Kontrabecki's effort to veil a discreditable episode from his past backfired Thursday as a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel refused his plea to seal court records.

Lawyer and Bay Area real estate developer John T. Kontrabecki's effort to veil a discreditable episode from his past backfired Thursday when a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel refused his plea to seal court records.


The records detail a 2003 coercive civil contempt order by a bankruptcy judge that landed Kontrabecki in federal prison for 14 months.
