Public defenders' office honors former members
Ernest Kirkwood, a former client of the San Francisco public defender's office was on hand March 18 to honor former Chief Attorney Peter Keane and former Public Defender Jeff Brown, an event at which the office named a conference room after the pair. In 1988, the two men raised funds to move the public defender's office out of the Hall of Justice to its current space on Seventh Street. They are now immortalized in an office they helped design. — Joshua Sebold
