E-filing comes to a state appellate court, at long last

Electronic filing has arrived to the 1st District Court of Appeal, the first in the state to require lawyers to submit writ petitions and briefs in civil cases in electronic format.

SAN FRANCISCO - Electronic filing has arrived to the appellate court here, the first in the state to require lawyers to submit writ petitions and briefs in civil cases in electronic format.


The initiative is the latest by the state court system to transition from the paper to the electronic era, and could serve as a model for California's other appellate courts and Supreme Court.
