Mock trial competition crowns regional champion

The Bishop's School took down 27 other private and public high schools in San Diego County in the region's annual mock trial competition March 1. Participants debated the merits of a fictitious case involving a second-degree murder scenario. The arguments included a pretrial Fourth Amendment claim. The cases were heard in an actual courtroom setting in the downtown location of the San Diego County Superior Court. U.S. Magistrate Judge David Bartick served as lead scorer for the competition. The Bishop's School moves on to a statewide mock trial competition, which will be held March 21-23 in San Jose. — Henry Meier
