OC Superior Court employee who ran 7-year bribery racket pleads guilty

Jose Lopez Jr., 36, accepted nearly $250,000 in bribes over the seven years of his employment at the court in exchange for dismissing charges, reducing fees and canceling mandatory jail time in misdemeanors such as drunken driving cases.

A former Orange County Superior Court employee who for years illegally resolved low-level criminal cases in exchange for money is facing about nine years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a single racketeering charge.
