Betty Barry-Deal, 1921-2017

Betty Barry-Deal, the first woman to serve as a justice on the 1st District Court of Appeal, died on March 12 in her daughter's home in Ventura. She was 95.

Betty Barry-Deal, the first woman to serve as a justice on the 1st District Court of Appeal, died on March 12 in her daughter's home in Ventura. She was 95.

Barry-Deal rose to the appellate court after overcoming personal and professional adversity early in her legal career.
