State Investigating Role of Guards in Prison Riot

SAN FRANCISCO - The California Corrections Department has disclosed that it will expand its internal investigation of the shooting of inmates during the bloody Pelican Bay prison riot last month to include potential criminal negligence by guards in the period leading up to the violence.
