The times they are a-changin' -- especially regarding divorce. As recently as 1964, a messy divorce torpedoed a presidential run. Trump, on the other hand, is our first thrice-married, twice-divorced president.

One of the most notable things about President Donald Trump's ascension to the throne is that his status as our first thrice-married, twice-divorced president, has gone unnoted. As recently as 1964, Nelson Rockefeller's messy divorce and remarriage to his ex-friend's ex-wife was a candidacy killer. Among the opprobrious taunts hurled his way from the Cow Palace floor at that year's GOP convention was "dirty lover," which nowadays sounds like the title to a hit song.
