Following failed mediation, litigation against Texas firm flares up

An Austin-based firm accused of improperly collecting taxes for governmental entities in California sought to have the case dismissed, while the plaintiffs filed for an injunction that would prevent them from collecting debts here.

Two months of mediation has yet to resolve a putative class action against a Texas law firm that plaintiffs allege improperly collected taxes for governmental agencies in California. Following the failed negotiations, both sides lashed out this week, filing documents indicating how they intend to proceed with the fight in open court.
