San Diego mayor announces 'Higgs Fletcher and Mack Day'
Interim San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria last week recognized the 75th anniversary of law firm Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP by officially declaring Feb. 20, 2014 as "Higgs Fletcher and Mack Day." The firm bills itself as San Diego's oldest full-service law firm. Before passing the proclamation to firm managing partner John L. Morrell, Gloria thanked the firm for its service to the community. "This is for what all of you do, and I am deeply, deeply grateful," he said. To celebrate the benchmark, the firm has launched its 7,500 Hour Volunteer Challenge, through which it hopes to donate 7,500 hours of community service along with monetary contributions to select nonprofits. — Ben Adlin
