Privacy Bill Clears a Senate Panel
SACRAMENTO - This year's major financial privacy bill cleared its first hurdle Tuesday but is likely to face tougher challenges ahead. SB1, co-sponsored by Sen. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, and Senate President Pro Tem John Burton, D-San Francisco, passed the Senate Judiciary Committee by a vote of 5-2.
