Oakland city attorney's office wins judgment against immigration fraudsters

Immigration scammers in Oakland who defrauded immigrant families are on the hook for a record $15.1 million judgment, city officials announced Wednesday

Immigration scammers in Oakland who defrauded immigrant families are on the hook for a record $15.1 million judgment, city officials announced Wednesday.

Alex Katz, chief of staff to Oakland City Attorney Barbara Parker, said it was the largest sum ever won by the city in litigation and the largest judgment under the state's Immigration Constultants Act, which regulates those who advertise services for immigrants.
