Tax lawyer receives bar group's inaugural award

Richard A. Shaw, an attorney at Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP in San Diego, received the San Diego County Bar Association's first annual Taxation Section Award last month at a reception at the SDCBA Bar Center in downtown San Diego. The award honors a local practitioner who has made significant contributions in the field of tax law. Shaw has been a member of the SDCBA's Taxation Law Section for more than 40 years and is a former president of the American Bar Association's Taxation Section. He specializes in estate planning, business and tax planning and tax controversy matters and has testified on corporate tax reform matters before the Internal Revenue Service and Congress. — Andrew McIntyre
