Semiconductor consolidation continues with $2.4 billion deal

As a record year of consolidation in the semiconductor industry winds down, Phoenix-based ON Semiconductor Corp. announced Wednesday a $2.4 billion tender offer to buy Silicon Valley chipmaker Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc.

As a record year of consolidation in the chip industry winds down, Phoenix-based ON Semiconductor Corp. announced Wednesday a $2.4 billion tender offer to buy Silicon Valley chipmaker Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc.

ON Semi retained a San Francisco team from Morrison & Foerster LLP and Fairchild relied on Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.
