CalPERS tries to bar Winston & Strawn from Chapter 9 cases

The California Public Employees Retirement System hopes to ban a law firm from representing parties in Stockton's and San Bernardino's bankruptcy cases because the firm recruited lawyers who had represented the public pension giant.

The California Public Employees Retirement System, or CalPERS, is seeking to ban law firm Winston & Strawn LLP from representing parties in the municipal bankruptcy proceedings of San Bernardino and Stockton, because the firm recruited lawyers who previously worked on behalf of the public pension giant.
