State Bar preparing for no dues bill
While the bar says it is hopeful lawmakers will resolve their current stalemate and pass a bill authorizing the agency to collect attorney dues next year, the bar said it is also working to ensure there won't be a repeat of what happened during the Wilson era if no legislation is approved.

When Gov. Pete Wilson vetoed the State Bar's annual funding bill in 1997, the agency had to lay off roughly 500 employees the following year.
