Central District to host federal S&P lawsuit

While the suit could have been filed in a host of venues, it was brought in Los Angeles because the jurisdiction presented a blend of well-respected prosecutors and an array of alleged victims, according to multiple sources.

LOS ANGELES - The Central District of California will play host to the government's first major legal action against a financial products rating agency with federal prosecutors claiming Los Angeles as the best venue for the action because companies that dealt with mortgage backed securities, like IndyMac and Countrywide, were headquartered in the district.
