Bankruptcy lawyers adjust as filings decline dramatically in California

Bankruptcy filings fell across the country in 2012, with California experiencing a more pronounced downturn of 21.7 percent fewer than the year before.

Bankruptcy filings fell across the country in 2012, with California experiencing an even more pronounced downturn: 21.7 percent fewer filings than the year before.


The majority of filings come from individuals' bankruptcies, which fell nationwide 13 percent last year. Business filings dropped 16 percent.
