Alameda County Bar Association honors Distinguished Service awardees
The Alameda County Bar Association held its Board Installation and Distinguished Awards Luncheon on Jan. 25 at the Lake Merritt Hotel in Oakland. Keynote speaker and Distinguished Service awardee for Social Justice Eva Paterson, co-founder and president of the Equal Justice Society, was among those honored for demonstrating a strong commitment to the bar and the community. ACBA's Distinguished Service Awards were also presented to Judge Stuart Hing, Superior Court of California; Timothy H. Hallahan, director of Stanford Law Trial Advocacy Program; Heather Chang, Law Office of Heather C. Chang; the Office of the Alameda County Public Defender; and the Fremont Family Resource Center. The bar association also swore in its incoming officers and directors. The officers for 2013 are: President Rowena Gargalicana, partner at Gargalicana/ Graceffa LLP; President-Elect Jason Clay, partner at Clay & Bowen LLP; Vice-President Robert J. Frasetto, partner at Frassetto Herbert LLP; and Immediate Past-President Sally J. Elkington, solo practitioner. Alameda County Superior Court Judge C. Don Clay administered the oath of office. Magistrate Judge, Northern District, Kandis Westmore, emceed the afternoon's events.
