CPUC looks to take away one escape route for public utilities
Utility companies should be compelled to regularly advise residential and commercial customers of their vegetation management protocols so someone doesn't go off and hurt themselves or someone else.

On April 25, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) cited Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) $8.3 million for violations connected to the massive Butte fire. The Sept. 9, 2015, inferno chewed through some 70,000 acres in Amador and Calaveras counties, claiming two lives and over 900 structures.
Cal Fire originally implicated PG&E for the blaze for allowing tree vegetation to contact high voltage wire. Now, the CPUC has moved to sanction the energy utility for the same reason...
