Longtime jurist celebrates century mark

Retired Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner Sam Bubrick, who spent 39 years on the job, celebrated his 100th birthday over the weekend.

Retired Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Sam Bubrick was in no hurry to cross the final few days of his 99th year off the calendar.

"I'm trying to enjoy 99 for as long as I can," he said last week. "But people only seem to get excited when you turn 100."
