Former Los Angeles County Undersheriff Paul Tanaka was sentenced Monday to five years in federal prison on charges stemming from his role in a jail abuse and corruption scandal.
Tanaka's defense attorney, Jerome J. Haig, said Tanaka's punishment when compared to that of Tanaka's former boss, ex-LA County Sheriff Lee Baca, was patently unfair.
