Lawyers would be prohibited from having sex with their clients unless they had a prior consensual sexual relationship if a proposed change to California's Rules of Professional Conduct is adopted.
The State Bar's board voted 9-2 on Thursday to put out for public comment the much more restrictive rule detailing when an attorney could be subjected to bar discipline for having sexual relations with a client.
