Landau Lawyers League caps summer softball season

The Landau Lawyers League crowned three champions Sunday, concluding the organization's summer softball season. The winning teams from the "A," "B" and co-ed divisions all received trophies after winning somewhat lopsided games. In the "A" division, King, Holmes, Paterno & Berliner LLP defeated Munger Tolles & Olson LLP 21-11 behind the long ball heroics of Don Welty, who was named the game's MVP. King Holmes had a record of 9-1 during the regular season. Munger Tolles finished at 8-2. In the "B" division, Kirkland & Ellis LLP was nearly as impressive in their game against the 8th Street Aces, winning 20-11. Paul Leaf paced Kirkland, smacking a pair of home runs and winning MVP honors. In the co-ed championship, Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman LLP knocked off Winston & Strawn LLP 17-11. Taylor Tieman was the big bat for Wood Smith, winning the game's MVP award. — Henry Meier
