A San Francisco County judge who is known for jump-starting the debate on marriage equality was in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday listening to U.S. Supreme Court justices spar on the issue.


Superior Court Judge Richard A. Kramer made waves in 2005 when he decided in favor of plaintiffs who challenged the constitutionality of a statewide initiative recognizing marriage as between a man and woman.
