Irvine ends 40-year contract with Rutan & Tucker
The city council voted 3-2 to terminate its arrangement with Philip D. Kohn, who represented Irvine in a city attorney capacity for about eight years. Kohn said the move came as a surprise.

After a relationship that spanned more than 40 years, the Irvine City Council severed its contract with Rutan & Tucker LLP late Thursday after a closed-session meeting.
The council voted 3-2 to terminate its arrangement with Philip D. Kohn, who represented Irvine as city attorney for roughly eight years. Kohn said the announcement came as a surprise.
