A legal battle of the bands

Lawyers by day, rock stars by night. That was the theme last Friday, March 1st, when seven bands made up of legal professionals took the stage in front of a sell-out crowd at the Whisky a Go-Go for the annual Law Rocks! "battle of the bands" charity event. Run DLA, formed by members of DLA Piper LLP, channeled the likes of Run DMC, Tina Turner and Justin Timberlake to take home first prize. Law Rocks! will donate $44,000 to Run DLA's designated charity, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. In all, over $100,000 was raised for charity. Other law firms competing in the event included Latham & Watkins LLP (Willful Misconduct), Perkins Coie LLP (Privileged Communications), Cox Castle & Nicholson LLP (Castle of Rock), Venable LLP/Ziffren Brittenham LLP (Exposition Deposition), Landmark Chambers (Infinite Jest), and Spertus, Landes & Umhofer LLP (Matthew Umhofer).
