Staff writer Sara Randazzo visits San Francisco Law School on the occasion of its 100th birthday and finds a small but grounded institution that has turned out some of California's noted legal luminaries.

After three years, Mervin Hosain is no longer surprised at the confusion that arises when he says he goes to San Francisco Law School. "Oh, you go to USF?" most respond. "Did you say UC Hastings?" others ask. When Hosain, president of the school's student bar association, is feeling patient, he'll explain the mistake. Otherwise, he'll just smile and nod, keeping the correction to himself.
