A federal judge shot down a request on Thursday to reject a Securities and Exchange Commission settlement plaintiff lawyers viewed as too lenient.
The dispute concerns the SEC's September settlement with Verifone Holdings Inc. and its former controller, who agreed to pay a $25,000 fine for falsifying accounting statements in 2007 to boost reported revenues.
