Defense Attorneys Skeptical of Plan to Let DAs Oversee Crime Labs

Orange County supervisors are set to approve today a plan to build an expanded DNA lab that would be overseen jointly by the sheriff, the district attorney and the county chief executive.

SANTA ANA - Orange County supervisors are set to approve today a plan to build an expanded DNA lab that would be overseen jointly by the sheriff, the district attorney and the county chief executive.

The plan, designed to end a years-old feud between the sheriff and the district attorney, worries criminal defense lawyers, who don't want their courtroom opponents in charge of scientific evidence.
