LOS ANGELES - A lawyer who was slated to race in the Ironman triathlon was forced to pull out after a crash with a car left him with serious shoulder injuries.

Steven Spitz, 40, general counsel at vitamin company Natrol, collided with a Range Rover while training on his bicycle near his Brentwood home in Los Angeles on Sept. 28.
