Justices Criticize L.A. Judge's Navy Sonar Ruling

U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper, of Los Angeles came in for sharp criticism at the U.S. Supreme Court Wednesday over her decision to limit Navy sonar use to protect whales.

WASHINGTON - The Los Angeles federal judge who ruled that Navy exercises off the California coast using sonar had to be curtailed because they would be harmful to whales was the center of attention Wednesday as the Supreme Court heard arguments in the case.
