In Data Domain Deal With EMC, All Was Quiet on the Negotiation Front

Fenwick & West corporate partner Dennis DeBroeck found himself in an unusual situation as he hammered out a deal for his client Data Domain Inc., which was being acquired by storage giant EMC Corp. for $2.4 billion. He wasn't allowed to talk to EMC or its lawyers.

SAN JOSE - Fenwick & West corporate partner Dennis DeBroeck found himself in an unusual situation this year as he hammered out a deal for client Data Domain Inc., which was being acquired by storage giant EMC Corp. for $2.4 billion.

Throughout the negotiations, DeBroeck never talked to EMC or its lawyers with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
