Federal judge signals final approval of VW settlement

U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer said in a hearing Tuesday that he is "strongly inclined" to approve a nearly $15 billion settlement in the Volkswagen AG diesel scandal.

SAN FRANCISCO — U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer said in a hearing Tuesay that he is "strongly inclined" to approve a nearly $15 billion settlement in the Volkswagen AG diesel scandal.

The San Francisco federal judge will take into consideration the heated objections raised by more than a dozen speakers before issuing a final decision on or before Oct. 25.
