SAN DIEGO - Retired federal Judge Howard B. Turrentine died Friday at his home in Point Loma. He was 96.
Turrentine was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District in 1970 by President Richard M. Nixon, and served as chief judge from 1982 to 1984, assuming senior status that year.
