Vote Helps Judges Become Defenders

Los Angeles County is seeking legislative changes to allow judges to become public defenders after a Superior Court judge found he was ineligible.

LOS ANGELES - The county Board of Supervisors unanimously voted Tuesday to seek legislative changes to allow judges to become public defenders. But the move may not be timely enough to allow a Los Angeles Superior Court judge who made a recent bid to be appointed the county's next public defender.
