Govenor Appeals Ban on Furloughs

The Schwarzenegger administration Tuesday appealed an Alameda County judge's decision to temporarily bar new furloughs for state workers.

The Schwarzenegger administration Tuesday appealed an Alameda County judge's decision to temporarily bar new furloughs for state workers.

Last month, Schwarzenegger ordered unpaid days off for roughly 156,000 state workers to begin Friday. The move was expected to save $147 million a month, according to the state's Department of Personnel Administration.
