WASHINGTON-With the U.S. Senate now in its summer recess, 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals nominee Goodwin Liu and Northern District of California district judge nominee Edward M. Chen are no closer to confirmation.

Both nominees, approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee and awaiting a vote on the Senate floor, have faced significant Republican opposition.
