Judge drastically increases Uber class action size

In huge hit to sharing economy leader, Judge Edward M. Chen ruled their arbitration agreement invaild.

A judge enormously increased a certified class action against Uber Technologies Inc. from about 15,000 to 160,000 drivers in a ruling on Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Edward M. Chen also certified a driver sub-class to pursue fuel and phone expense reimbursements, which plaintiff lawyer Shannon Liss-Riordan called on Wednesday, "the primary source of damages for the entire class."
