LA attorneys settle in nationwide visa fraud sweep

Two Los Angeles immigration attorneys settled with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday following allegations they acted as unlicensed brokers on investment projects associated with the EB-5 foreign investor visa.

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced a wave of settlements and an additional suit against U.S. attorneys and law firms accused of recommending certain investments under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor visa program to clients, from which they then received undisclosed referral commissions.
