Policy advocates work to end juvenile justice fees

Most California counties charge families of incarcerated youth a series of administrative fees which can strain the budgets of already strained families — but policy advocates are trying to make a change.

Court-ordered administrative fees for incarcerated juveniles of Alameda Country can run the average affected family up to $3,000 per month, research by the Berkeley Policy Advocacy Clinic shows.
