State high court allows consumers to pursue organic food labeling suit

A federal statute does not bar state court complaints alleging the mislabeling of organic foods, the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

Federal law does not bar disgruntled consumers from pursuing state law complaints that allege companies deliberately mislabel nonorganic foods as organic, the state Supreme Court unanimously ruled Thursday.
