Judge orders Safeway to pay $42 million for overcharging online customers

Safeway Inc. must pay roughly $42 million for overcharging customers who use its online grocery ordering service, a San Francisco federal judge has ruled.

Safeway Inc. must pay roughly $42 million for overcharging customers who use its online grocery ordering service, a San Francisco federal judge has ruled.

The order entered by U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar of the Northern District awards a class of customers nearly $31 million in damages and another $11 million in prejudgment interest.
