Law to alter immigration talks during plea bargains

AB 1343 underscores the importance for both defense and prosecution to weigh the consequences of a guilty plea on deportation risk

A new law will require district attorneys to take into account defendants' deportation risks during plea bargaining, causing district attorney's offices statewide to prepare for changes in how they prosecute.
