Legislature votes to bolster court funding by $100M

State Senate and Assembly budget subcommittees voted unanimously to provide the branch with another $100 million in funding - provided that courts show the money will be spent to improve the public's access to justice.

SACRAMENTO - Little more than a week after Gov. Jerry Brown denied extra funding for the state's courts in his revised budget proposal, a state Senate budget subcommittee and an Assembly budget subcommittee voted unanimously Thursday to furnish the branch with another $100 million - provided that courts show the money will be spent to improve the public's access to justice.
