Haslam easily recalls one of his favorite compliments from a fellow attorney during his nearly 40 years in practice.


"It was such a pleasure to try a case against somebody that wasn't an asshole," emailed a lawyer who opposed Haslam in a 2008 trial.


The sentiment epitomizes Haslam's mantra as a patent attorney. "You can litigate hard, and you can litigate well, and you don't have to be a jerk about it," he said.
